Went while working in the area, visited multiple times on my stay it was that good. Had a couple Texas BBQ joints, and this place is way better. The big muddy was a ms of a sandwich and to hazardous for my beard, so I was forced to fork and knife it. The brisket and array of sauces were the best to me.

Local real sugar soda & local real flavorful beer is combined with flavorful smoked meats plus OK sides in a distinctive converted drive-in setting. I ordered the 2 meat combo of pulled pork & turkey (out of brisket). I enjoyed the stronger flavor of the pulled pork more. Turkey was great for turkey, but not my favorite. I had a creamy cole slaw & baked beans that were good, but not great. I wanted more flavor/personality. The 2 bean baked was the better attempt. I liked the touch of Wonder white bread, onions, pickles & pickled jalapeños to add at the registers. I really liked the "Texas Hot" sauce. The guys serving the the bbq & sides were nice & entertaining. (I am always impressed when people serving the public do not become robots)

Not bad at all! I am glad St. Charles is sloooowlllly but surely getting more restaurants that aren't just big chain places. And yeah, Sugarfire is a chain, but it's a local chain!! I am still not super crazy about their sides, but whatever. Fuck sides. I came here for MEAT. MEAT DAMMIT. PUT THAT BIG, JUICY STACK OF MEAT IN MY MOUTH AWWW YEAH. *wipes drool off face* Ahem. But yeah. I like that their meat (pulled pork, I'm lookin' atchu!) is pretty darn good. The slaw wasn't bad either but seems like slaw would be pretty hard to fuck up. Also appreciate the fact that there are many sauce options to choose from. The 47 was probably my fave, also liked the sweet STL. Both were not spicy and did not rape my delicate little flower blossom of a colon, LOL. Oh and they have beer, yay beer! Edit to Add: They are now 5 stars b/c their new mac n cheese is killer!!! The prices seem somewhat on the higher side of the BBQ spectrum, but maybe it's just my imagination. I guess meat is going to run you a few bucks no matter where you go. But $35 for 2 people, I guess maybe that's average for a meal if a little on the high end, though considering one of the two of us had a beer... I will still go back here because it's too damn close to my house not to! And delicious! And the employees are wonderfully nice and friendly! :) A+ for good service. Did not utilize the 'facilities' so cannot comment on cleanliness but overall restaurant was clean and decor was on-point. The curbside feature was interesting too, though we did not try that. (It was raining outside.) Would like to come back and try the salmon but the price kinda freaks me out. I hope it's delicious though!! Also was funny when I asked Sean to call ahead to ensure they had not sold out (6pm on a Wednesday night -you just never know!) And he looks at me like "WTF?" and I'm all like ...... "Bro, do you even BBQ?"

Outstanding barbecue; second only to Pappys. And the brisket may be better. What makes Sugarfire different is the broader variety of sides. These change on a daily basis, and I'd encourage trying something different than the usual slaw and fries, although those are quite good. Last time I recall having roasted brussel sprouts with ham; some may turn up their nose and say yuck, but I love vegetables, and these were good and very different.

This is as good as it gets -- for the meat. The sides are lousy. Even the beans are meh. So stick to the meat. You can't go wrong with any, but I went back for another round of ribs. The assortment of sauces are good -- no doubt you're find your favorite and stick with that. But it is all about the meat.

We've been here a couple of times now and its superb every time. Truly excellent bbq. In a town that is historically noted for its bbq style sugarfire definitely stands out. The couple of times we have eaten here we have just had carry out but now that it is summer the patio is open and I can't wait to eat there. Never the less the service has always been friendly and the food is consistently phenomenal. Melt in your mouth tenderness and a variety of sauces to fit any pallet. If there is any doubt just go try it. You won't be sorry. Just look at the other reviews !

It's all bout that meat, lots of delicious meat. The only problem here is figuring out what to order because it's all so good. Not only do they have great meat but an ever rotating selection of interesting sides that aren't your typical cole slaw and baked beans. If you haven't been to Sugarfire yet, you should get here soon.

I have been to every state in this great union. Proudly call myself a foody. Lived in KC, therefore i know BBQ and this place is "DA BOMB"! You have the option to park in stalls where they will serve you or go inside for the same goodness. i recommend going inside. it almost has a butcher store feel when you enter and at the butcher counter we were met by the pit master. Getting recomendations we decided to go for the Big Daddy. A multitude of meat and a sampler that fed my wife and i for two meals and at $22 a fair price. Love the multitudes of sauces and the place is a buzz with and experience from gout not to far behind without discipline. We live hours away and will make the trip back to share with our kids. Also any place that closes when they are sold out of food is outrageous! YOu go Sugarfire Smoke House!

I'm a vegetarian so I ordered the delicious portobello mushroom burger. Double stacked, juicy, crunchy, and tasty. Slurp, slurp, slurp. And I LOVE all the sauces, especially the coffee BBQ sauce. Sooooooo tasty. Open, fun atmosphere with big windows and bottles of sauce everywhere. You HAVE to come here if you're in the area. :D

Missouri BBQ!! Dress casual and prepare to get messy! Great BBQ and tasty, interesting sides. Gem of a place!

Best stl bbq with a cafeteria style ordering system. Everything on the menu is great as well as each day had unique items the staff comes up with.

I'm updating my previous review because I have been back 3 times since my review and my recent trios have been way better! My meats have been flavorful and nice sized and my sides have been good. I always order the special sides and they have been hit an miss but its good to see a place that is always trying new things! The thing I enjoy most is the vast variety of sauces available! The coffee bbq sauce is awesome followed by Carolina mustard and tonight they had a beet bbq sauce which was very tasty! So good job Sugarfire you've won me over and I can't wait to go back. I gotta pace myself though cuz I could go every day and that would make me a fat kid in no time!!!

Kind of expensive but I like that their menu changes daily and they have a ton of sides and sauces to try out.

A very cool place. In town for a conference at the convention center in St. Charles, and we located this spot via Yelp. They have a super quirky and fun approach to food. As a big fan of Kansas City BBQ, this was a fun change. The menu here is much broader than the KC staples, allowing more room for creativity in sides, etc. Bottled craft beers and local sodas get an edge over KC spots. Options are fun. Some of my pals got garlic ginger green beans, several got something with jalapeño jelly (hush puppies?). Here's the deal, I was not really very hungry when I arrived, so I thought, hey... just get a burger. To do a true KC vs. STL comparison, I'd have had to order ribs. Also, they were out of brisket, and unfortunately that nixed a significant number of the more interesting items for me. To get a clue of the behemoth I ordered, check out the photo. Wow. I ordered beef, bacon and blue cheese. The sandwich was absolutely delicious, and one with no hope of getting my mouth around. I had to chip away at it bite by bite. Looking back at the photo, in realizing that I'm not sure I actually got bacon. I don't remember it either. Still... the burger was so cheese-drippingly good that I didn't notice at the time. Sauces? I'm a vinegar-over-sweet BBQ guy, so I didn't fall in love with any of their plentiful sauces, (what did they have... 8?) but they were all tasty. One of the hot ones was my favorite. They also have a coffee version complete with grounds, and it was fun. Even better swirled with the hot on my fries. My friends had great things to say about both the ribs and the pulled pork. The kid that took our orders and plated food was as charming and helpful as you could possibly want. My parents lived in O'Fallon for over a decade, and I'm sad I'm only now finding out about this place. Very cool over all. I'm still in a mild meat coma two days later! ;)

Excellent BBQ with wonderful side dishes that are much better than a french fry! I got the brisket sandwich with seasoned green beans and mashed potatoes. I just wish out of 6 different BBQ sauces they could offer a good Memphis style vinegar based sauce...with a little kick. That could make it a favorite!

  • Andres A.

OMG! The ribs are to die for! I had a full rack with fries and cole saw. It was simply amazing, the place was packed in a thursday afternoon so I knew right since the begining this was a good place. I highly recommend trying this out.

  • Kristy W.

This place is absolutely terrible.....um...for vegetarians. This place is the freaking worst.....um....for people fasting. I'm hoping someone read the first few words of my post and will steer clear of this place so I can visit more often without all the darn lines! Ha! Sugarfire is beyond great barbeque with amazing product cooked to perfection. Today we tried the smoked turkey that just about melts in your mouth. The ribs were smoky and tender. But the worst dish by far.....for my husband's waistline....was the brisket. Omg...so delish! The sauces are also expertly crafted. We particularly loved the dragon sauce that was tangy, spicy with a sweet finish. Sides are also amazing....the fries were perfected crisped and salted. I also found myself being addicted to the free pickles. So, um....please don't go here....so I can visit more often.

MEAT COMA! I've eaten a lot of great BBQ and this place ranks pretty high up there! I ordered the Meat Plate with 1/4 lb of each; pulled pork, brisket, turkey, ribs, and a sausage with corn and baked beans on the side. The ribs were perfect, the turkey was the best I've ever had, the brisket was great, the sausage is like none other, the the pulled pork was ok, but a little dry for my taste. The corn has a great little spice to it and the beans were good. Oh, and the sweet tea is authentic southern style! My favorite sauces here are the Texas Hit and the Coffee BBQ. I will drive pretty far out of my way to eat here again!

First off, this place was packed and packed the whole time we were ther on a saturday afternnon at 4. Great ambiance with old signs and beer memorabilia on the walls. The prices are very appropriate for the item styles, but definately they over deliver for the portion and quality. We had the rack of baby back ribs, which was huge and meaty, great glaze and smoke. The ends were lightly charred, but definitely not burned to coal. Served on a huge metal baking sheet, Cool presentation. Secondly, out came the beef brisket, wow... This is by far one of the if not the best brisket. I have ever had, and yes i do bbq lots... Tender, moist and medium smoke flavors, trimmed perfectly.. For sides we had coleslaw and fries. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp, not over mayoie. . The fries were fresh cut and yummy dipped in the white bbq sauce. The available sauces were well done; dragon sauce, spicy kick butt sauce tradition bbq, good but rich and heavy St. Louis sweet, awesome for ribs and brisket, sweet with tangy notes and nice acid.. White bbq sauce, great for the fries almost like a spicy mayo-ranch but lighter and refreshing with a little bite. We willdefinately be back, staff was friendly and super helpful. They make you feel like you are bbq'ing at a buddies backyard... A plus guys...

  • John D.

I'm a full-on regular here (several times/month). The specials are always great and interesting, when I don't have that, it's a very TOUGH choice. Brisket, ribs, turkey, salmon, pulled pork are all some of the best meat you'll find. The burgers are well worth it too, as they use a proprietary blend of different cuts, all from Rain Crow Ranch and grass-fed. Good beer selection, interesting soda options and pie to die for!!!

  • Antonio M.

It's pretty good but not even close to being great. The service is excellent! The food is okay, not great. The prices..... wayyyy over priced. I'm not cheap by any means and would pay a lot for a great tasting restaurant but when you get 6oz brisket sandwich over 10 bucks and it isn't that good it's too expensive. The brisket is way to fatty and lacks flavor. I understand it is a brisket and they have to keep the juiciness but leaving the fat but when it's 40% fat that is way too much. The taste without sauce is pretty simple, nothing great. With sauce it's pretty good but I believe any great meat doesn't require any sauce to get amazing flavors. I also tried their fried artichokes and they were over cooked. It just tasted like and over fried fry or something, just a crunch with a ton of oil, nothing I would order again.

I love meat, especially barbecued meat. Most barbecue places have great meat, but then they toss some beans and cole slaw on the side and call it good. Not Sugarfire. In addition to the wonderfully smoked pork, beef, chicken and turkey that they lovingly toss on paper-lined metal tray, their sides are the best. Not "the best" as in the thing everyone says when something is pretty good, but THE BEST. The real "best." Last time I was there, I had buffalo turkey tots as one of my sides - those are what they sound like - turkey squares cooked in buffalo sauce with ranch dressing tossed in, and probably some cheese. I had never had such a thing - but I was soon addicted. Before that, I did the gumbo. I have loved many a gumbo in New Orleans, but the one cooked at Sugarfire was as close as you can to perfection in St. Louis. Every time you go, there are new and exciting side dish choices. Oh, yeah. The meat is great, too!

A month ago we were leaving St Louis looking for a bite to eat before heading home to Kansas City area. I used Yelp to look up our options. I came across this little gem - Sugarfire. After the rave reviews, there was no debate on where to stop. Upon entering I was a little overwhelmed by the menu as it was EVERYWHERE I looked. To the side of me, above me - and the guy behind the counter rapidly asked what would be like. I told him, "I don't know - I've never been there." He was SHOCKED. I told him we were passing through on the way home to KC. Of course that's when the friendly jabbing of BBQ jokes began - St Louis vs Kansas City. I was given a sample of brisket, their signature item. It was so very good (my mouth waters thinking about it right now!!!) The smoke ring was perfect! I ordered the brisket sandwich and then was asked - what would you like for your side? Again I was very overwhelmed at all the choices in front of me that I shot back, "What's the best you offer?" I ordered the stuffed squash as suggested. I have no idea what it was stuffed with, but it was oh so good and hit the spot. They also let me sample a bit of their homemade applesauce that one of the gals behind the counter has picked the fruit the day before & made herself. Again, very good. Loved the plethora of sauces too. Everyone was so very welcoming, friendly & kind. I'm sorry I don't live closer and envy all who do! I've told all my KC friends that they must stop by Sugarfire if & when they travel that way. Kudos to you my friends, job well done!

Wow, imagine a KC BBQ fan rolling over to STL to see family and stumbling into this place after a 3.5 hour drive. This place is better than anything KC has to offer. I love Gates, LC's, and won't turn my nose up at Zarda or Woodyard. But this joint is different. The brisket is where it's at: best bark I've ever seen, the fat may as well be meat "butter" on top, perfect amount of chew, and relatively moist. The turkey was well smoked. Ribs are good. Homemade sides? Yes please. Alcoholic bourbon/chocolate shake? Good gracious. I've since eaten here a couple times since and it's just amazing. Apparently the location on Olivette has better sauces...will need to investigate the next time I'm in town...

First time visit. Food was outstanding. Multiple different sauces, one for everyone. Service was exceptional. Staff asked our names and had full conversations with us. Definitely will be making this a stop on every trip to St. Charles!

Take my review as 4.5/5. I had heard about this place so I needed to try it. Amazing brisket cheese steak. The fries were also amazing. I did get a piece of apple pie for dessert and it was not the best. They do have some beer in cans and aluminum bottles before you order and there are also fountain drinks. Two bottled cokes, my pictured meal, two slices of pie, hamburger with side of fries was $48.

Nothing like the original location but that is what is great about it. Same great food different location. Very cool interior and an interesting drive up service. I went with a friend from work and I thought we were going to be waiting in line for a while, since the line was out the door. Bu tI assured him the other location moves quick, we were through the line in less than 5 minutes, which gave my friend time to select his meal. We both got the pulled rib sandwich, I had never had this before and he had at another competitor. He said this one was better by the way. I ran into a few pieces of gristle and what appeared to be rib pieces but I just spit them out. I had the Bacon wrapped corn on the cob and brisket chili as my sides. The brisket chili is now my favorite side behind the gumbo. I think they must actually put crack in everything so we all get hooked, It is so friggin delicious. Again I love that they have real cane sugar soda provided by Apex. Much love to you guys and all you do!

    (5)
  • Annette B.

Excellent BBQ! Great atmosphere and staff and of course amazingly well done BBQ. I had the crack pie as well but it was not my favorite. They have a great selection of sides including two different flavors of potato salad, baked beans and much more. I had the Carolina sandwich very tasty and flavorful! My friends had the ribs and brisket it looked so tender and juicy. Try the white BBQ sauce with the brisket. I hear it's to die for.

  • Melissa C.

I've eaten here twice since it's opened and both times have been fantastic. The brisket is my favorite meat. The ribs are also good. Pork was good but no where near as good as the brisket. The brisket is really the star of the show in my opinion. The sausage link was not my favorite. As for the sides, I tend to stick to the specials. I had a pink lady applesauce (it had Red Hots in it!) that was super tasty, and some jalapeno cornbread that was the best cornbread I've ever had. The jambalaya was delicious. My husband said the red beans and rice were really good, cole slaw just eh, and green beans were good. The line moves pretty quickly. We were outside the door by about 5 people and it took 25 minutes to get to the counter. I do wish they had the soda fountain in line like the Olivette location but there's no room for that. Because they are so busy, the restaurant can get crowded, especially around the soda fountain, but I expect that because of the popularity. Every employee that I've come in contact with has been super friendly from the guys at the counter to the ladies at the register and the employees busing and helping out at the tables. They have a LOT of different sauces. I tend to stick to the hot bbq sauce but the white was also good. They have Carolina Mustand, Coffee BBQ, Sweet, the list goes on and on. If one is not at your table, look around and grab it from a different table or ask someone who isn't using it. I still need to try several of them. Go enjoy it! And can you bring me some too?

  • Jay O.

Absolutely pleasurable experience... Positive, fun staff that slice a piece of their mouthwatering brisket while making your decision on an order. Incredible side orders and portions. I had the 8oz. brisket with creamed spinach and they suggested the mac and cheese. It was served on a metal tray with paper... no plates (loved that) and more or less a butter knife... The brisket was so tender a dull knife was all you needed. From the ambience of ecclectic Johnny Cash/ The Melvins to our of state lisence plate decor to the service to the quality of food... I give this place Two Hands on the Belly! It was awesome.

    (5)
  • Kate C.

Bottom line: DELICIOUS. Don't be afraid if the line is long when you get there. It moves pretty quickly. Great selection of unique drinks, plus the usual. Fun, laid-back ambiance and friendly staff. Now to the food. I thought it was absolutely delicious. Tender, flavorful meat and a great selection of sides. They usually have a special selection of sides on any given day, from zucchini to loaded ranch mashed potatoes. The variety of sauces is amazing. The coffee bbq sauce is just amazing! Great place to eat. Super impressed with this place.

Crack Pie...is delicious!!! I was in heaven! Baked beans were soooo good. I had to go back for seconds. The Meat was tender and juicy. I will definitely come back and visit when I'm in STL.

You can't usually catch me out in St. Charles -- but sometimes, ya can. And after going to the park, I sure had an appetite. I yelped some nearby eateries and came across Sugarfire - and I was not disappointed! Friendly staff, great food, nice atmosphere. They have a huge selection and their daily specials kill it. It's nice when restaurants are still trying out new things. I couldn't complain!

Very tasty BBQ. Upon recommendation from the staff guy loading the smoker I got a brisket and turkey combo. Big portions, awesome to try the sauces. Busy place...I can see why. Worth a stop.

As good as it gets! I got the meat daddy which was more than enough for me. I like that their sides change a lot too. Best thing are the ribs for sure!

The fact that I don't often eat meat and generally dislike barbecue places makes it utterly amazing that I'm giving this place 5 stars. But truly, it is awesome. The smoked salmon has the perfect amount of smoke and char and is still wonderfully moist on the inside. I really appreciate how dedicated they are to local products, not just the meat and beer, but even the soda. The only drawback is that it is always crowded, but this place deserves to be crowded. Definitely a top notch meal.

  • Jacob S.

This newest location didn't disappoint. Very friendly staff who really love what they do. There's a great selection of beverages from pure sugar cane sodas to a nice adult beverage. These guys know how to BBQ, but it doesn't end there. They grill a great burger and have daily specials that are typically out of this world. Having creative originals seems to be popular nowadays amongst the food world. Sugarfire does a marvelous job creating original platters while using tools within their arsenal and not stepping out of bounds. You may have to wait in line, but they'll make your stay worth it.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Couldn't hear yourself think. Had to fight for a drink. Ribs were dry and thin on meat. I don't appreciate being treated like a cow going through a line at a slaughter house. Spend some money and get descent WEIGHTED paper towel holders, so people don't have to chase the holder around the table. But it really doesn't matter, because my friends and I won't be back.

I just had the greatest BBQ meal of my life! Hands down, the best pulled pork sandwich anywhere. I was driving into Saint Louis, found Sugarfire on Yelp, and it is now my favorite restaurant in the country.

  • Brian L.

Brisket pot pie...must try. Got the Meat Daddy. Whole lot of food. Ribs were good. Sauces were fun. Honey Badger and Cherry Cola were good. Brisket was nice and moist. If I'm in St Louis, I'll be back

  • Landon R.

Messy awesome goodness! I had the brisket cheesesteak and there was enough meat for two sandwiches making it extra messy with all the cheese inside. So good though! I had a side of cheese burger Mac n cheese and it was good at first but the more I ate the more I didn't like it as much. That's ok though cuz the sandwich was so good!

    (5)
  • Jay W.

All the right local ingredients: atmosphere, music (eclectic more than you'd expect), no pretense, plenty of flavor in all the items, even the sides. If you want a taste of what the locals eat, look no further. You'll get plenty of value for your money.

Had catered sandwiches and sides from this establishment and the sandwich (Roasted Turkey) was so delicious. They have great bread, a touch of sweetness. Very good bbq sauce. Others who tried the brisket and pork sandwiches loved it as well. The sides (Coleslaw, potato salad, beans) were a bit too heavy and sweet for me.

    (4)
  • Ryan N.

Meat was great. Sides and cornbread were ok. Had pork with jambalaya and roasted squash. However the barbecue sauces were very plain compared to the Olivette location. Except for the white barbecue sauce, all tasted like the store brand stuff you get at Shop and Save. Olivette location may be busier but I would definitely recommend it over the St. Charles location just based on the sauces.

  • DS H.

SO good! Inexpensive, casual fare, with at least a dozen sauces to add to the sandwiches. Highly recommended!

  • Stephanie K.

Friendly staff! Good food and condiments. I love this place. I like to order the brisket majority of the time...it's delicious when dipped in White BBQ sauce or Coffee sauce, but friend didn't really like the Coffee one. Pulled pork is too dry for me. Sometimes they have the Bacon on Bacon and that was absolutely amazing. Yummy Hush puppies. Not a fan of their Potato gratin (not cooked all the way and slightly bland). Green beans were okay. Thank you Sugarfire management for reading my review and for putting the tongs out for the bread. :)

    (5)
  • Candis S.

Holy amazeballs, this place rocks out some major BBQ. The brisket is like butta, no knife required. The pulled pork just melts in your mouth. The Big Muddy is a meat paradise. You know a good place when there is a line out the door. The wait is totally worth it. You can sit outside or inside and there is even curbside drive in service. Definitely a family friendly atmosphere. Whoever is the Smokemaster in this place definitely knows food.

Oh, Sugarfire, how I love thee. I originally tried the Olive location last year and have been smitten ever since. This is a combo review of both locations. The pastrami is where it's at! I love the Carolina with pulled pork and the slaw on top. I order it no sauce because they have a ton of sauces to try. The White BBQ sauce is sooo good. I really liked the autumn sauce last year. Try and catch the dragon sauce If you like spicy. The large tray is perfect to fit all the sauces right on the paper! A reliable source loves the Big Muddy. The burger is top notch; try it with the bacon and pimento cheese. The sides are always good-the green beans, the Mac n Cheese (tho I do like my noodles more al dente), the kale Caesar (with the leaves in smaller bites, please!), the barley salad, pasta salad, loaded potato salad and my new love the jalapeño cream cheese cornbread. OMG. I have yet to have anything bad and always appreciate it when someone comes by and collects my tray while I'm in my BBQ coma.

There are a lot of points I like. The meat is good, the portions are big, I dig the atmosphere, and the obscure choices on the soda fountain. But if I'm perfectly honest, I've tried 4 different sides, and have yet to find a side I like. That being said, definitely a place everyone should try at least once.

Went tonight for dinner and it was delicious!! The BF and I each got the pulled pork sandwich. The 6oz was plenty for me and got the baked beans as the side. The pork was very tender and they don't put the gross bits of pork in with it. The beans were also flavored nicely and was glad they didn't taste like canned beans! The frostie brand root beer was also delicious! Reminded me of a root beer float. When you walk in you go up to the counter and pick the meat. They put it on a big cookie sheet and the next person asks what side you would like. Then pay and grab a table. FYI-They get crowded and run low on seating Would definitely go back, especially since it's so close to home and Pappy's is a far drive.

Yum yum yum, just flew in to see a graduation. Stopped somewhere else and immediately jumped back in the car and drove away fast. Yelped and found this place, best decision.

Sugarfire came highly recommended by other friends who had eaten here earlier in the weekend so we made a trip over. They were already sold out on Saturday by the time we got here, but we returned on Sunday. The ribs were already 86'd, so we settled for sausage, brisket, and salmon. The sausage and brisket were excellent, although the brisket was a tad dry but the nice variety of sauces, especially the coffee and hot took care of that. The salmon was very average however. Baked beans and slaw were well above average, and the crack pie lived up to the promotion of the cashier. But if it is really being sold like crack, shouldn't the first taste be free?

Very good beef brisket sandwich. It was very tender and smokey. I didn't care for the beans though.

They earned this for atmosphere, awesome sides, and good drinks. My pork and ribs were dry and flavorless which is a risk when serving BBQ to the masses... I will try it again but order different meats. The place is bursting with potential.

Enjoyed everything from the moment I walked in until I left with my to-go box! Great food! Excellent and fast service! Wonderful atmosphere! I loved the coffee bean Bbq sauce!

Fell in love with this place on our first visit...very friendly and attentive staff...wonderful meats and sides. We love the many different BBQ sauces they offer too. We sat outside and it was nice and clean and someone was there to grab our trays and wipe our table within seconds. Can't wait to go back!!!

Awesome BBQ. Been to this place about 15 times since they have opened and it's always perfect every time. Love the unique specials that they create. 5 stars in my book.

Had the brisket sandwich, my wife had the ribs, all awesome. Potato salad was very good. Different types of bb sauce, loved the St Louie and coffee the best....

The food is great, fresh, and you definitely get your money's worth! There are several varieties of sauces and the sides they offer would cost at least $2.00 anywhere else. The pulled pork with the sweet St. Louis sauce is my favorite. I highly recommend this if you're looking for BBQ. It's my new favorite place.

Overall, I think this place was really good....the meat was tastey and I felt there was a nice selection of sides to choose from. The guy cutting the meat (an owner I was told) was very friendly, which I appreciate because it seems customer service and appreciation are lacking in a lot of places now days. That being said, I felt the fries were a bit disappointing....kinda stringy, mushy and odd. I know some people prefer them this way, however, just not my cup of tea. The BBQ sauces were amazing and the selection is great, however the distribution was odd. After finishing my meal I noticed there were a few other sauces on another table that I didn't realize they had because they were not on our table. One of the workers even came during our meal and took a sauce from our table and said she would bring it back....which she did after we were finished eating...not sure what that was about but it wasn't a big deal. I'm not sure how many sauces are actually offered so this may be unrealistic, but I feel it would be nice if there were a choice of each sauce at each table. It's also difficult to get a drink because there are constantly people filing in and out and a busy buser going to the trash next to the soda machine, etc.....it was just really crowded and uncomfortable in my opinion. Overall, it was a nice place to eat, but for what it was I just felt it was kind of in disarray and way too cramped for my liking....I don't however, enjoy crowds, so take it for what it's worth :)

Awesome, awesome, awesome!! I can't say enough-this was the best place we tried during our visit to St Louis! Since we lived in Houston for nearly 9 years, we were a little afraid to try it since we have high standards when it comes to barbecue. When we walked up to the counter, I asked the guy how long they smoke their meat. When he told me their brisket is smoked for about 18 hours, I knew it was a good sign. We both decided to try the brisket sandwich, which is made in a style similar to a steak and cheese. The sandwich had good flavor and came to us with homemade fries like my mother used to make! These were the BEST fries I'd had since I was a child! Another fantastic thing about this place is they don't serve the common soft drinks that you get everywhere else. They serve sodas made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup, so you don't have to feel badly about what you're doing to your body. Since they're so innovative with the quality and flavor of their foods, and being that I liked the building and its atmosphere (along with their cool idea of curbside service), I feel this place is worthy of my 5-star rating!

I've heard lots of good things about Sugarfire Smoke House, so my husband and I decided to go. On arriving, we were not thrilled with the order setup. It's so noisy you have to almost scream your order or repeat it. I don't like my meat slapped down on a piece of paper on top of a cookie sheet. That was a turn-off right there. They put the sides in the nice little paper boats - why can't we at least get a paper plate or bowl for our meat? The self-serve drink station is too close to the traffic area. As soon as you turn around, your bumping into other customers. By the time you get your drink and choose your condiments, your food is cold. Having the a/c on full blast & the ceiling fans on (in October) didn't help either. I'm not saying the food was bad - generous portions are given and they have a wide variety of tasty sauces. I didn't care for the beans so much and the fries would have been good if they could have stayed hot. The pulled pork was good, but we won't be going back. We would much rather go to a bbq place and get waited on and not have to fight with other customers to get a drink refill.

Expanding the smoked meat horizon! Sugarfire Smoke House has ambition. You could tell from the beginning when they opened up in Olivette. Not only were they going to run with the big boys, they were going to run right past them. Don't get me wrong. Pappy's is still pretty well the celebrated staple, at least of the downtown world. But Sugarfire makes county life so much easier for people craving smoked meats. I've been to all three locations, and each one is just as good as the original. Currently, I am closest to the New Town location, and it has me coming back pretty frequently. Located at was once a Chuck-A-Burger car hop, Sugarfire New Town has made itself very much at home. I love how each location has its own daily special. If Olivette doesn't ring your bell, New Town might have something different to enjoy. Overall, the menus are basically the same, but you can find different things on different days. And I love that about Sugarfire. As far as the meat, you really can't make a wrong decision. The brisket is king. I've been on record saying Sugarfire's brisket is the best, but I quite often lean towards the smoked turkey. Even if I choose a different meat, I almost always add four ounces of turkey to my order. There's nothing new to say about this restaurant, expect the same amazing things said about Olivette. These guys are killing it, and I can't wait to see what they do in the city. Watch out, Pappy's and Bogart's!

The food was just okay. Items were pricy $28 for a lunch for two. It was our first time there, no one was behind us in line and the man cutting the meat was very impatient and rude with us. My fiance ordered a two meat platter and while he was looking at the menu board which spanned the length of the restaurant, the man said, "Do you expect me to guess what meats you want?". He decided on pulled pork with brisket and said thank you sir when he was handed the tray (habit from the army). The man then said, "don't ever call me that again or you are not going to get served here". Not exactly the vibe you are hoping for when you go out to try a new restaurant on vacation. We won't be coming back.

I've been to the sugar fire in Olivet several times. I always thought it was top rate. Now after visiting the one in St. Charles it's even better. The line was a lot smaller. But for some reason the food tasted even better. Enjoy it

As close to BBQ perfection as there can be. I've never had a disappointing meal here and always look forward to coming back. Dare I say this is the best BBQ in St. Louis? This location has much more space and parking compared to the Olive Boulevard location, so I think it's a better customer experience overall.

I love my Sugar Fire! I waited in line after a bunch of screaming kids. That says something. :) I actually ordered brisket, pulled pork, smoked fried artichokes (yep all for me) and my Aunt had cheesy grits with her turkey. I was a little bummed of my fat on my brisket. I actually gave it away. :( everything was great and sauces were amazing. Try that white BBQ. I love the mayo, horseradish and vinegar combo!

What more is there to say about sugarfire? When you want something casual, it is perfect. If you want something as flavorful as you would find in high class dining, sugarfire works for that as well. Hard to beat the meat daddy as you can save it for the next day.

When I pulled into the lot there was only a few spots. I good sign. The line was long and it looked like there might not be a place to sit. We ordered ribs, brisket, sausage link, fries, coleslaw and bacon wrapped corn on the cob. We did find a seat. So the Brisket was awesome!! The ribs good. The sausage link was ok. Really that brisket was so good. It has me making a trip back soon to try some of the other things on the menu. The fries were good. The coleslaw not so good and the corn was good but just a very tiny piece. One of the things I didn't like was the seating. It was very crowded, and not much room to move about. I didn't think there was enough room between the seats. The sauces I tried were all good and there were more to choose from. Next time!!

Tried to stop by here yesterday after work and they were sold out by 5:45 p.m. Came back today and they had plenty of food. Decided on the half rack of ribs with two sides (baked beans and house fries). Also they let me have a taste of their brisket and loved it. Also ordered the 4 ounce meat only order of that. Didn't even charge me for a bun. This will be lunch for tomorrow. As for the ribs they are great! Will definitely order those again. Baked beans and house fries are good choices as sides for ribs. Glad to see they opened up here in St. Charles.

After three visits this past week for curbside service at Elm Point........the average works out to a solid 3 star now. Positives: Beef Brisket Double Cheeseburger Hand cut fries Turkey Breast The Negatives we experienced: Pulled Pork....WAY over done folks. All of our visits were during the height of the lunch rush....three pork sandwiches, three strikes in a big way! When pork disintegrates into dry mush and is hard to swallow without a drink or copious amounts of sauce.....you over cooked it. This isn't a guess or preference...this was just poorly cooked pork. Ribs...we ordered the four bone and 1 side for $7.50..good price if the ribs were not jerky. Fantastic flavor profile, they weren't over cooked, they were held and reheated would be my best guess. Meat was firmly attached to the bone, but was exactly like a Jacks Link beef jerky. I will say this...it was by far the best jerky I have ever tasted!!! They brought out an uncut end with three bones and some of the extra meat on the end of the rack...decent amount but tearing the ribs was hard and made for a real mess. We only ate three of the ribs..it was just to chewy to eat all of it. However, I reiterate GREAT FLAVOR!!!!! The third trip today filled the brisket urge...but the waitress was about as uninterested in being helpful or friendly as the drive thru folks at the McDonalds. "What do you need?".....uh how about what the specials are....she honestly said "Some wings or a guy-row" then handed me her clip board and said here are the sides "you can read them faster than me telling you them". WOW! After we placed our order she asked credit or cash. I said credit, her response was "Can I just take your card in with me so I don't have to run back out?" What am I going to say to the person who obviously can't stand that we are making her work? Do I dare say NO and risk spit, smashed items or WORSE...NO WHITE SAUCE???? So I handed her the card and back she comes wanting her tip before ever bringing us any food or showing any customer service that would remotely be confused for friendly??? Several other things that I don't want to dwell on...but another five or six "mistakes" in food and service made this last visit for a while to this location. If I get back around the Olivette location....I am sure to stop.

My wife, daughter, and I ate at SugarFire for the first time last Friday night. The line was out the door but still move quick. The smell was amazing and the food lived up to the smell. They cut the meat right in front of you and the portions were very nice for the price. Much of the menu is gluten free, which is great for most of my family. This is a place where we will definitely return.

Beef Brisket sandwich or Pulled Pork sandwich with fresh to order fries or mac n' cheese. There is the perfect amount of bbq sauce cooked into the meat and if you need more, use the Twerk sauce. I have no idea what is in it, but if Miley Cyrus tasted anything like the sauce, I would eat her alive like a cannibal. Haven't had a crack at the ribs but when I do I will get back to updating the review. Friendly, well trained, knowledgeable staff with awesome decor and at lunch and dinner be prepared to share a table, but that is what makes us family. Nuff said, and stay away from the broccoli cheese n' rice. There are better options. Free drinks with every large sandwich and no one can go wrong with a $10 meal. dp

As usual this place never disappoints! The ribs and brisket were awesome and the coffee bbq sauce is the best anywhere. We arrived there at about 11am on Saturday and the line moved very quickly. By the time we were done eating though the line was out the door and down the sidewalk! This place is the best and people are willing to wait for it!

Way over priced for bbq. The food was decent. Brisket was a little tough and lacked flavor. The turkey was excellent. The ribs I got were fair. Not much flavor. Long line but moved pretty quick. Also, coming from Texas I'd like to see burnt ends.

Went for dinner with some friends. Place is a good size and smells fantastic! Staff was friendly. Lots of smoked goodness to chose from. I went with the brisket sammich with slaw and potato salad. Brisket was delicious and tender. The sauces were all delicious and the coffee was probably one of my favorites. Defiantly will be back!

Fantastic 2nd and 3rd visit. Will be eating here weekly I'm sure. Pork steak was phenomenal! Good prices across the board. It's nice not having to empty your wallet for good bqq, when sometimes you empty it for sub par bbq. Keep up the good work guys!

Solid BBQ! Tried the brisket and the pulled pork. Both equally delicious - moist and flavorful. It's fun to try all the different sauces. Finished off with some key lime pie which had just the right amount of tart. I will defiantly be back to try more.

Tried Sugarfire for the first time. I was very pleased with the turkey and pulled pork plate. I also had a bite of the brisket. The pulled pork is to die for and melted in my mouth! I was not a huge fan of the sides I chose, baked beans and home fries. But all in all it was great. We will be going back for sure!

I've eaten here several times, it's always superb. It's one of the best BBQ places I've eaten at, and the sauces are it's best feature. They add a layer of awesome that draws me back again and again. Always take the time to sit down inside and enjoy your meal.

Pulled pork, turkey, and brisket are all amazing. Salmon leaves something to be desired. This place has every kind of sauce you could ever want and then some you didnt know you wanted but are still fantastic. Every time ive been they have their same classic sides as well as new, creative, daily special sides (example: smoked hummus, pulled pork mac-n-cheese, etc. ).

It really does live up to the hype. My first time I had the big muddy, which is indeed quite big. It was delicious and very filling. I had a side of potato salad that was less than spectacular but still perfectly acceptable. Altogether, it was an outstanding meal. Today, for my second visit, I had the brisket sandwich. Once again I was highly impressed with the quality of the food. It's not an exaggeration that this was the best brisket I have ever eaten. I had a side of jambalaya that wasn't award winning, but still pretty tasty. I'm almost starting to appreciate the simplicity of the sides I've tried. They satisfy you without distracting you from the masterpiece in the middle of your plate! The overall experience at sugarfire is a lot of fun. The staff is knowledgeable without being pretentious, efficient, and very friendly/welcoming. The decor and overall atmosphere is hip without trying to be. There are a lot of BBQ sauces to try which is fun, however I can't say that I was overly impressed with any particular one of them. I'm not sure if sugarfire has a "house sauce" or not. Perhaps that is an area they could work on. or perhaps I just tried the wrong sauces. I live in new town about a mile from the st. charles location and this place is so popular i'm pretty sure my property value just went up! :) Highly recommended. I look forward to trying the rest of their menu.

First of all, if you're going to come here, be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes in line. After that, enjoy one of the most flavorful meals you've ever had. The pulled pork was amazing, especially with the sweet BBQ sauce. The sides were fantastic too, with the crazy corn and red beans/rice. Even the soda was fantastic, as they use cane sugar!

We were in St. Charles on business Friday and decided to go to Sugarfire for dinner. It was about 6 PM when we got there and I was expecting a long line, but there were only 3 or 4 people ahead of us (the line was out the door when we left!). The guys behind the counter were very friendly and helpful....and patient since we had never been there. I chose the pulled pork dinner (6 oz) and had fries and cole slaw as sides. The fries were great -- I love fries made from "real" potatoes instead of frozen "pretend" fries. The slaw was crispy and fresh. The pulled pork was delish -- moist and tender. My husband chose the combo dinner with turkey and brisket and sides of black beans with rice and baked beans. He liked the brisket but loved the turkey. I tried the black beans and rice and could have made a meal on just that! We considered the ribs, but decided to save those for another trip. They looked wonderful, though. The portions on the sides are very generous. We probably should have gotten the combo dinner and just shared! After you pay, there's pickles, sliced onions, and bread. The bread looks like plain sliced white sandwich bread, but it was much better than what I get at the store! Seating is crowded and the restaurant is loud -- not the place for a romantic dinner, but definitely the place for good barbecue!

Excellent. We got there at 11:15 on a Saturday and by 11:30 the crowd was out the door. We got the big sampler platter and everything was great! The ribs didnt really need any sauce. My wife and I dont really care for brisket, it was great! This place is not fancy but the food is great. You can eat outside or in. The staff was very nice.

Came @ 4:30 w/family. I was really hoping to see "burnt ends" somewhere on the menu, but no such luck..We ordered Brisket, Pork, and ribs for meat. Fries, beans, hash brown casserole, and green beans for sides. The fries were ICE cold. Nothing upsets me more than cold fries. It says to the customer "here's cold food, we don't care". The casserole was good and cheesy. The beans had a smoky taste which was pleasant. The brisket was overcooked and dry. I love brisket, but it shouldn't have a crunch to it. Very little smoke ring and dry, not a good combo for me. Ribs also a little overcooked. Not a lot of meat on the bone, and not enough seasoning/rub at all. The big bright spot here is the pork- awesome pork! Extremely tender. Some of the best pork I've had in some time. The sauces were good. The St. Louis sweet and the Texas Hot were my fav's. The Texas wasn't overly hot, and you don't get the kick until the end of the bite. Very nice sauces. The white BBQ was also good. I may come back to try- but a little pricey for overcooked meat. There are other choices in the area. (Little mickey's comes to mind).

Have not been here recently, but I have visited twice. Smoked turkey is AMAZING. Jucy and not dry at all with a perfect amount of seasoning. Crowded, and small seating area, but still managable. One thing that blew me away is customer service. A friend of mine went on facebook and asked when they were bringing the "warpig" back, its her favorite and they had not served it in a while. She mentioned her birthday was that week. Owner replied, "well, guess were having warpig (on said birthday)!" I thought that was really cool and shows they listen to what their customers want.

Went here for my dad's birthday, had a large group and didn't have a problem getting us all to sit together. The food and atmosphere was really good. Best BBQ I've had in STL, would def recommend. I had the 6oz brisket sandwich w/side for $9. I was pretty hungry since I hadn't had lunch but it filled me up.

We have had the Big Muddy sandwich and the ribs. The Big Muddy is "brisket debris" and hot sausage and is Awesome! The ribs are good but not the best that we have had. We have not eaten inside but have done both pickup and curbside ordering. BBQ sauce comes with order but sauce cups and a variety of other sauces are available at a stand near the bbq cooker for curbside and carry out.

I lived in Austin, TX for 15 years and it's there that I learned to love BBQ and learned that what most folks call BBQing is nothing more than grilling with some sauce poured on. Good food to be sure, but a far cry from real BBQ. The standards I base my BBQ expectations on are Kreutz's Market and Black's BBQ, both in Lockhart, TX, plus places like the Iron Works in Austin and The Salt Lick in Dripping Springs and numerous others. You can't throw a stick in Central Texas without it landing close to some good BBQ. For me, the last 20 years in St. Louis has been perhaps not a BBQ desert, but darn close. What was available was mediocre at best with a few bright lights like Pappy's Smokehouse and their amazing ribs. I'm sure there are others I would really enjoy, but when I eat out, I either eat close to work in Chesterfield, or close to home in St. Charles. The choices have been less than stellar. My carnivorous friends would tell me about one great BBQ joint after another and I would go there and think, they only think this is great because they've never been to a place where the brisket is so tender and well seasoned that you would never consider putting sauce on it and where the rib meat doesn't fall off the bone when you pick it up, but pulls away easily when you bite into it and if you're lucky, there will be some jalapeño cheddar sausage to have on the side. THAT'S my expectation and THAT'S what I've never had in St. Louis. Till now. For the first time in 20 years, I haven't had to travel back to Texas to have some BBQ that equals my Texas BBQ expectations. I've been to the St. Charles Sugarfire Smokehouse five times in the last month and have yet to be given a reason to regret it. 1st three times I had the brisket with a sausage link (YAY! It's jalapeño cheddar, though not listed as such). Tender, moist brisket with a nice smoke ring and a savory bark, though the bark is softer and thinner than I like. The sausage was a nice surprise for the YAY mentioned above. For sides I had the baked beans which while good, could have been improved with some brisket added. The second time I had potato salad, about what I could find in any store deli, and low and behold, a special side of baked beans with brisket in it. They read my mind and it was good. My 4th trip, I just had to go because they posted on Facebook that a special for the day was a smoked pastrami sandwich. Now pastrami also being brisket, just prepared differently, is my favorite deli meat and good pastrami is as hard, if not harder to find than good BBQ. My gold standards have been Katz's deli in Austin, sadly no longer there, and Pumpernickels on Olive west of Lindbergh. Both had/have a combination of spices along with the saltiness from brining and the fattiness of the pastrami to make them very much more desirable than other sandwich shop or grocery deli offerings. And now, OMG! I now have the best pastrami sandwich by far only two short miles from where I live. Adding smoke to pastrami is alone enticing, but that super tender meat with the right amount of fat on a marbled rye bread with their custom dressing, and sorry, but no sauerkraut for me, I'm a bad German, and I was an absolute pig, gobbling that baby and being too full, but oh so satisfied. The fries weren't particularly crispy or hot, but have the distinction of being one of the few that I felt no need to cover in ketchup. Nicely salted from the counter, I ate them as is and didn't even care that they weren't all that hot or crispy. Imagine my review when they get delivered in the condition I expect the chef wants them to be. I had those fries again today, shortcomings and all and I expected to have them with the planned special of the day, Pastrami Burnt Ends. The idea of burnt ends of any kind brings a response in me that would have made Pavlov's dogs envious of my drooling ability. But burnt ends of THAT pastrami? I'm thinking Niagra. But OH NO! They didn't have room for those in addition to the rest of the day's needs. I asked to make sure, but my disappointment was not to be relieved today. However, their St. Louis Ribs made a good choice for using food to deal with emotional issues. Sweet, salty, tender, pulls off the bone with a gentle bite and once again, no need to use any of the many sauces that seem to change with every visit. Sugarfire has the usual shortcomings of a good BBQ joint, seating is a bit crowded, but don't be shy, ask and share a larger table with someone already there or someone late to the party. BBQ may be served fast, but it's preparation is anything but with anywhere from 6 to 18 hours needed to smoke some meats. That means they WILL sell out before closing time and THEY WON'T be able to prepare a second batch before then. If you seriously want some good BBQ, then you need to make a serious effort to be there well before 3 p.m. on the weekends especially. I doubt you'll be disappointed,

We love Sugarfire restaurant. There is never a bad meal. Plan accordingly and get there early. We arrived at 1050a on a Sunday morning and I was shocked by how many other cars had the same idea. Trust me when I say to get the turkey....it is awesome.

Got an email reply from the owner after my review, here's my reply: Saturday July 5th is the day I was there. It was truly awful and my husband who took me there after a positive experience at your other location was also shocked at how bad it was. As for another visit, no thanks. It's too far, too expensive and WAYYYY not worth the trip or the cost--and this is from someone who has NO problem driving to Chicago for dinner at Cafe Lucci which is fabulous. By the way, baby back ribs are a poor choice for ribs too. Spareribs don't dry out and are half the cost for 3 times the meat. Bandanna's has it ALL over you guys--and I don't normally like chains as a rule, but their rub is delicious and their ribs are tender, smoked perfectly and reasonably priced. Troy's BBQ in a shack by the railroad tracks in Boynton Beach FL at MLK and US 1 has the best BBQ in America, try it sometime. Your brisket was some of the worst BBQ I've ever had and your mac and cheese defines horrible. It wasn't even as good as the Kraft with the powdered cheese and Kraft Deluxe mac and cheese mix would be a huge improvement over what I was served. I grew up in a restaurant and have owned my own, and when your customers tell you that something you served them is terrible, it's NEVER a good idea to shrug, say "sorry" and walk away. That changed my attitude from disappointed in your food to being really pissed off at being ripped off for an expensive dish--let's face it--$5 for a spoonful of mac and cheese is pricey even if it's good--which yours was NOT---by a long shot. Your snotty help really poisoned the experience and she should have offered me a refund or a replacement and she did neither. The shrug as she walked away told me all I need to know about your attitude toward your customers. And my original review: ZERO STARS!! Not that great. I had the mac and cheese as a rare treat and it was crap. Mushy noodles and a "cheese" sauce that was WAY more sauce than cheese. It was TERRIBLE and it was $5 in addition to being terrible and I told the cashier and all I got was "sorry" so that one bite of crap was $5. This is an extremely expensive place for what you get. The meat was OK but dry--and who ever heard of dry brisket?? As all BBQ aficionados know the flavor is in the meat, not the sauce. Here it's in the sauce because this crap they're selling is tasteless and dry. I never use sauce as it's an insult to the smoked flavor of the meat. Here the meat is an insult to the sauce!! I'd never come here again. Way overpriced for crappy flavorless meat isn't how this southern gal likes her 'cue. They could take some lessons from a good pitmaster--and soon! Blech!!

I have to give it three stars for now considering it was our family's first time there. I ordered the Big Muddy which was fantastic and a side of their tater tot casserole stuff and that was a pleasant surprise too. Now my wife and daughter both had burgers and both said they were dry. I figure it may have been an off day for the burgers cause I have heard great things about em. My tip is to figure out what you want before you go cause they want the line to move fast and you don't want to feel weird when you don't know what you want.

I love this place! Great food, great selection and originality! Great price for the amount of food you get, and everything is always delicious! The staff is always super friendly and I think the environment is fantastic! Vintage casual meets gourmet deliciousness! Can't rave enough on how much I enjoy having this place in St. Charles!

That was some great BBQ. The ordered the two meat combo. I picked the brisket and smoked turkey. The brisket was soo tender and seasoned just right. The turkey was good as well. I would say run of the mill on the turkey. Portion size was fair. The jambalaya side was good tasting as well. There was something about the fries. You couldn't put your finger on it but you couldn't stop eating them as well. They must have sprinkled something extra tasty on there. Also had some if there smoked wings. Woooow is all I can say to that. The brisket and wings were the highlights for me. You definitely pay for the quality but I would go back again and again for that quality.

Ate there two times so far with multiple people and each time has been an amazing experience! The food is amazing no matter time you go and prepared right in front of your eyes! The staff is kind and the BBQ sauces change frequently so your almost always guaranteed something new each time you visit! They are extremely busy at certain times, not really a pattern but it just occurs in waves throughout the day and week! Make sure to get there early because they are only open until supplies last!

After reading about the new location and Grand Opening sellouts in the Business Journal, I came out for a sample. It was Saturday Noon, the parking lot had some good space available. Since this was a former Chuck-A-Burger, and more recently a "Roadhouse" restaurant, the signs ("Cruising Since '57" and "ROADHOUSE") were still there...literally. That kind of caught me by surprise. And, as a FIRST for the Midwest, (perhaps the whole USA) the lack of makeover allows for real 'curbside' barbecue service, complete with westernized car hops :). Inside, it is standard, self-tray to table, self-serve beverage type eating. A few people spilled out the door waiting online for their 'que'. The dining room had good seating available, as well as the outdoor patio. Some say that a clear indication of Que industry savvy is your brisket. I went straight for it. I was reassured in my decision, after polling some folks who were already dining, that signaled they preferred the brisket to the ribs. I ordered a half pound. It was cut from the most mouth watering looking slab of brown, black and seasoned fat I had seen in awhile. With a sampling of sauces nearby, I took notice that the fat cap remains on each slice of the brisket. Now, the bite.... Without any sauce, my first taste was good. But, the dryness of the beef itself was disappointing. In general, the brisket cut can be tough by nature (point cut vs flat cut). For this sample, marbling of the core was just not there. Some ring, and occasional smoke tones were complimented by a good rub, but I was underwhelmed. It is this hard to attain protection of moisture during the smoking process that eludes most operators. WildSmoke, for example, is a newer operator with excellent moisture in each bite of their brisket, but their absence of deep smoking process allows for that. In all cases, quality of product is the key to even avg. smokers. Having eaten at the Olivette Sugarfire location a year ago, I can see that there is marked improvement. But, I have to deduce that only the shear love of, and demand for Barbeque remains strong enough here for even the very good, well-located operators to make a nice living. In my mind, Pappy's and Hendrick's remain the absolute gold standard for consistent, deep, real-fruit wood smoke, plenty of ring, outstanding in class flavors, and tender, marbled bites.

Seriously don't understand the buzz at all. Went here with very high expectations only to have them dashed. The sides were nothing special and the baked beans were nasty. The brisket and pulled pork were okay, but neither as good as Bogarts or Pappys. I will definitely go back, but it's not all that.

Yes the other reviewers got it right! Definitely 5 stars Parking lot appeal is great with not the ordinary design. Ample parking Fun ambiance as you enter Awkward entry and where do I go next ? Drink case before you get to the food seems misplaced. The cook takes your order and slices your selection in front of you. I tried the ribs and pulled pork combo. Both were yummy! I was given the smallest ribs I've ever seen. When I pushed back he reluctantly gave me some real ribs. The small end sections are not appropriate for combo meals. If you're only getting 4 ribs they better be middle sections. I would not have come back if he Persisted. The cashier was pheasant and attractive. Great smile. The whole process was fast and efficient. The table was cleared by a tattoo guy that was friendly and seemed to really enjoy what he was doing. I'm going back!

Definitely my favorite BBQ in the St. Charles area. It's hard not to eat here weekly because of how wonderful their food is. Beef brisket never disappoints! They also switch up their sides daily. Haven't found one that is bad!

One more try ,I just had a chicken biscuit, The biscuit was burnt and so was the chicken. The last time I had it was great and full of flavor this time it was worth the trash. So I will let know and give them 1 more try.

Not sure what all the fuss is about, but i won't be back. Brisket was tender, but nothin special. Had over cooked squash for a side and enough humus to feed ten with five small pieces of stale flat bread. Lot's of sauces, but FEW REAL BAR-B-QUE SAUCES. They were labeled with dirty masking tape. Ice and soda machine were spitting at me. The diet soda was all foam. Noisy amosphere. If this is the best St. Louis has a problem

This review is going to closely resemble my first review of the Olivette location. This place is an absolute peach, and very welcome in St. Charles Co. Being new, I thought there would be some issues here or there, but I didn't experience any of those first hand. The line moved quickly, the food was amazing as usual. The brisket seriously is one of my favorite things in the city, so good... and don't even get me started on the smoked chocolate chip cookies, YUM!!!!!! The only thing I noticed when I was there is either someone didn't tighten the top of the sauce bottle all the way, or the threads were stripped, but when a man next to me went to use the sauce, he basically covered himself in it since the cap came off. It definitely was a bummer, but the guy handled it with class, so that's a plus. I hope he got some $$$ for a new outfit, and some free BBQ! This will be in my weekly rotation of lunch places... that is until I get too fat to fit into my pants.

I had the ribs with baked beans and Krazy korn, wife had brisket with fries and potato salad. The ribs were tender and the brisket juicy, we both found a sauce we enjoyed too. As for the sides, the corn and fries were great, potato salad was good, and the beans were ok. Back to the meats, very good flavor, tender, and delicious. I will return to explore some of the more "interesting" items on the menu.. Like the PLT(I think).. I'll try anything with pimento cheese!

It was "above ok". The pork was great, the brisket was good. The sides... Coleslaw was standard. Mac 'n cheese (it had rib meat added to it) was "ok". Mushy and a bit blah. The French fries were cold, limp, and disappointing. Now the BBQ sauces were phenomenal. Especially the coffee BBQ, and the white BBQ (add this to the salmon!). We will give it another shot to see if maybe we were just there on an off night.

LOVE this place, it is a favorite of the whole family. The ribs are amazing and we have never had a bad experience here. Even better, now they do takeout AND delivery. Having a two year old this is definitely a plus.
